The Cretan Horse Research, Rescue, and Horsemanship Center was established as one of the Institute of Natural and Cultural Heritage departments dedicated to conserving the traditional Cretan landscape. Our center’s mission is the holistic care of the very specific, archaic Cretan horse. We are concerned with the history of this breed, whose ancestors were brought to Crete 4,000 years ago, its professional breeding, welfare, education of breeders and horse owners, counseling, and holistic care of the horse.
