We offer different options for getting involved in the Cretan horse rescue project and having a great time in Crete, enjoying unusual, unique experiences, or just being satisfied with the good feeling you have helped.
Do you want to enjoy your summer in Crete in a traditional country house, far away from the concrete tourist centers? Would you like to try a stay in a traditional Cretan household? Do you want to experience authentic Crete? Are you eager to taste special local olive oils and other specialties? Are you interested in learning how to grow herbs? Would you like to see archaeological sites that no tourist guide offers and be guided by the archaeologists who have worked on the sites? In addition, you can spend a day at our horse center, having fresh goats’ milk. Nothing is easier than contacting us to arrange the details of your program at a time that suits you. All funds raised in this way go to help the Cretan horses.
Want to spend a few weeks in Crete but avoid paying for expensive hotels or guesthouses? We have a solution: we’ll give you free accommodation if you help us with the horses and the farm. The work involves cleaning, feeding, fetching water, and assisting with training and riding if you are experienced in handling horses. Suppose you are a student (e.g. agricultural school, veterinary school, or similar) and need a certificate to practice. In that case, we are happy to provide one.If you are interested in this unique opportunity, please contact us, and we will arrange the details. Remember, your accommodation is on us, a token of our appreciation for your help.
Our properties are located in the traditional villages of Episkopi near Ierapetra, Kritsa near Agios Nikolaos and in Agios Nikolaos itself. They are comfortably furnished and equipped.
Another way to help us is to provide material assistance to our horses. You can send medications, supplements, feed, cleaning supplies, training, and riding aids. They don’t have to be new items. Every horse person has a few things they don’t use that would still be useful to someone.
